VCOP resources

VCOP mats, pyramids or displays can be used to encourage children to choose the most appropriate and effective way to express themselves. They can also be used as a redrafting or reflective tool.

VCOP comes from the 'Big Writing' research of Ros Wilson. VCOP refers to four aspects of the writing process - vocabulary, connectives, openers and punctuation.

A range of different resources are available on the TES website.

Book-based Reading Games

Inspiration and instruction are both provided in this book by Helen Bromley. There are helpful suggestions on how to create games for picturebooks with different narrative structures. Some books lend themselves to dice games whereas others are more suited to word bingo, track games, ordering or cloze exercises.

The book covers using the games in class and also as home learning.

Dices to use with cards and to write on are available fairly cheaply online.
